# Altitude from atmospheric pressure

## Calculates the altitude at the present location from the atmospheric pressure and temperature, and sea-level pressure.

Sea-level pressure P0 hPa at present location: Atmospheric pressure P hPa Temperature T °C 6digit10digit14digit18digit22digit26digit30digit34digit38digit42digit46digit50digit at present location: Altitude h m
The atmospheric pressure observed is adjusted to the equivalent sea level pressure in order to construct the isobaric weather map.If the altitude is more than 11km high above sea level, the hypsometric formula cannot be applied because the temperature lapse rate varies considerably with altitude.$\normal Hypsometric\ formula\\\hspace{40}h={\large\frac{\left(\left(\frac{P_0}{P}\right)^{\frac{1}{5.257}}-1\right)\times\left(T+273.15\right)}{0.0065}}$

The altimeter of my aircraft does not take into account the temperature.
Why do you need temperature to compute elevation data ?
Thanks

If I wantt o use this in altitude calculations for a drone, every time I take it out I have to research the sea level temperature and pressure and adjust accordingly?

Purpose of use
In order to calculate elevation using Arduino and BMP180 air pressure detector. It works like a magic!
Comment/Request
I'm not sure if this formula is the latest one.

Hello
Imagine an aircraft in cruise at FL 360 (i.e. z=36,000 feet with sea level reperence pressure =101396 HPa).
At this altitude, the Standard Air Temperature might be near -56° C.
In fact, Outside Air Temp is SAT + 13, that's to say -43°C
Now the aircraft is going into a convective air mass whose Temp is suddenly increasing to -19°C
